Brief note on how light & reflectivity impact makeup

Makeup is constantly in conversation with light. The way a foundation reflects, absorbs, or diffuses light will determine whether the skin reads as smooth, textured, radiant, or flat on camera. Quick rule of thumb: Matte products absorb light which can minimize shine but also exaggerate texture if overused. On the other hand, highly reflective products bounce light back, which can create a beautiful glow, bring a look back to life if it appears flat, dull, not dimensional. Too much light can also have negative aesthetics such as distorting the facia structure if overused or placed incorrectly
My one gem I keep with me in my set bag is this hourglass powder: Hourglass ambient lighting powder in shade radiant light for those looks that need a little extra love and light to make the makeup standout and create dimension even at the powder stage!
